As you may have heard on the ABC on Tuesday 8th August 2017, I’ve been trying to arrange an NBN connection at my place in Yarra Glen for a number of years.
I thought things were progressing, when someone finally called me back…but after paying $660 for a quote (as required under the NBNCo’s Technology Choice Program…
the NBN quote came back at $255,678.50 !
It turns out that the majority of this cost is for gear that is missing/not installed at the Yarra Glen exchange…which the NBNCo expects me to pay for…which is (of course) NOT going to happen.
If you’re interested, you can listen to the interview with Raf Epstein here
I coincidentally spoke to a lady who lives in Healesville today…she was told at the start of this year she’d have the NBN in a couple of months…yet now the NBN website shows it’s not coming until 2020, even though her neighbour can get it today.
So, that got me thinking…there must heaps of other people in the Yarra Valley and beyond in a similar situation…we just want a great service, and are tired of the poor response from the NBNCo.
I figured the best way to find out who else is looking for something better, would be to arrange a quick survey of Internet users nearby…which I whipped up today (thanks to Google forms)
If you live in or around the Yarra Valley please complete the survey here..and ask your neighbours to do so too.
Armed with the survey results, I’m hoping to get some useful answers from the NBNCo…and that by working together, maybe we can get better results 🙂
